Job Description

The company is a building products manufacturer is seeking a tenacious, self-driven sales representative to develop new business and service existing accounts. The ideal location of this candidate will be central Ohio as a home/satellite office, with daily business travel/driving required and 30% travel regionally/overnight to cover territory (Ohio & Indiana). Identifying sales prospects, developing and following up on new leads and referrals from field activity will be the key to the success in this position.

Business Development Manager

The company is one of the largest manufacturers of fire retardant treated wood products. For this role, we are looking for self-driven, results-oriented product account manager that can effectively promote sales programs to our dealer base, prospective dealers, and develop long-term customer relationships with commercial contractors. The ideal candidate will have sales experience in building products industry, understand one-step and two-step distribution models, a proven track record for success and adept with American Institute of Architects (AIA) Presentation training.

Accountabilities –

  • Ability to generate own leads
  • Identify sales prospects, develop and follow up on new leads and referrals from field activity.
  • Responsible for the preparation and delivery of marketing and sales materials to ensure all customers have up-to-date marketing material.
  • Endorse and support all corporate promotional programs and campaigns.
  • Plan, prepare and attend all tradeshows, exhibits, conferences, meetings, and other local promotional opportunities.
  • Troubleshoot customer inquiries via telephone calls, emails, and fax with responsive, timely and professional communications.
  • Negotiate and manage sales contracts and contractual agreements.
  • Maintain or complete reports and documents at required intervals or as assigned.
  • Support and/or mentor other members of the sales team and foster a cooperative work environment.
  • Provide ideas, innovation and suggestions for continuous improvement and maximizing sales opportunities.

Qualifications/ Preferred Skills –

  • Road Warrior
  • Bachelor’s degree or 2+ years equivalent experience in B2B sales.
  • Prior experience selling through distribution
  • Skilled consultative selling techniques.
  • Computer proficient with Microsoft Office, Google Docs and ability to navigate and acquire skills to use internal systems.
  • An understanding of construction, building materials and distribution channels.
  • Proven experience with new customer development, customer service and networking skills.
  • Bold, confident, career-minded and ready to sell at all times!
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Closing abilities are a must
  • Ability to travel overnight 2-3 days a week required within regional/territory
  • Experience with multi-family and commercial construction will be a plus.
